Hawkins-Poe Monthly Newsletter January 2024
Posted by Hawkins-Poe on January 19, 2024
The NWMLS reported that the real estate market in December 2023 witnessed a notable 11% decrease
in closed sales compared to the same period in 2022. The NWMLS also reported a decline in
new listings for 2023 compared to the previous year. This continues to contribute to low inventory
levels and a scarcity of available homes on the market. The average sales price experienced a seasonal
slowdown, presenting an advantage for buyers to enter the market and explore their options.
The recent drop in interest rates, coupled with the Federal Reserve’s indication of potential further
reductions in 2024, signals a favorable climate for prospective homebuyers. Anticipation is building
for the spring season, with expectations of increased opportunities for buyers as interest rates
decrease, prices soften, and the possibility of new inventory emerges on the horizon. The market
appears poised for a dynamic shift, providing potential advantages for those navigating the real estate
landscape in the coming months.
